Description
The 24×36 Nordic A-Frame is an 864 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom single level cabin plan with a 21 ft 6 in A-frame roof, pale timber cladding, a fully glazed gable end and a long angled roof window on the back slope. You get a 13 sheet print ready PDF with the fully dimensioned floor plan, all four elevations, building section, roof and foundation sheets, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, plus a material list, delivered the moment you check out.
- The A-frame is the cheapest way to get a dramatic ceiling: the roof and the walls are the same structure.
- A glazed gable from deck level to the 21 ft 6 in ridge, so the view fills the room rather than a window in it.
- A long angled roof window on the back slope lights the bedrooms and hall without a dormer.
- Everything is on one level, with no loft ladder and no stairs to climb at the end of the day.
- A separate laundry room rather than a hallway closet.
- Electrical, plumbing and HVAC sheets are in the set, not sold as extras.

Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are exactly what your building department will review. What varies is the paperwork around them. Before you buy, call your department and ask four questions:
- Do you require an engineer’s stamp?
- Do you require structural or snow load calculations?
- Do you require a site plan showing setbacks?
- Do you require an energy compliance form?
Snow load is the one to ask about first with an A-frame. The steep pitch sheds snow well, but a reviewer in a high load county will still want the rafter sizing checked for your ground snow figure. Because you receive the complete PDF set, a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing the project.
What will it cost to build?
Contractor built, 864 sq ft at roughly $110 to $240 per square foot.
An A-frame saves on wall framing and spends the saving on the glazed gable.
You hire out the slab, rafters, roof and glazing and finish the inside yourself.
The simple triangle is one of the easier shells for a small crew.
Figures are planning ranges, not quotes. Costs move with your region, site access and the glass specification you choose.
Who this plan is for
Short-term rental
An A-frame is one of the most searched cabin shapes on rental sites, and the glazed gable is the photo that sells it.
A lake or view lot
The whole gable is glass, so the plan is drawn to be pointed at whatever made you buy the land.
Single level living
No loft and no stairs, which matters more than people expect in a holiday cabin.
Owner-builders
Repetitive rafters and a simple rectangle slab, with the glazing hired out.
Need it changed?
Mirrored, lengthened, a sleeping loft added, a smaller glass package, a crawlspace or pier foundation, or editable CAD files: tell us what you want and we will quote it, usually within one business day.
What you are buying
Your licence
One purchase lets you build this design once, on one lot. You can print the set as many times as you need for that build. You may not resell, share or redistribute the files.
Delivery
The download link appears on screen and is emailed the moment payment clears. It does not expire. Find a drawing error and we correct the sheet and resend it free.
Questions buyers ask
Does this A-frame have a sleeping loft?
No. This plan is a single level, 864 square feet with everything on the ground floor and no loft or stairs. If you want a loft added we can quote that as a change.
How tall is it?
The ridge sits 21 feet 6 inches above the slab, which is what gives the living space its full height glazed gable.
How big is it and how many rooms?
24 feet by 36 feet, 864 square feet on one level. Two bedrooms, one full bath, a separate laundry room and an open kitchen and living area.
Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are what the building department reviews. Some counties also want an engineer stamp, structural calculations, a site plan or an energy form. You receive the complete set, so a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing anything.
Does the plan come with a material list?
Yes. A preliminary material list is included, prepared from the same 13 sheet drawing set.
What foundation does it use?
A monolithic thickened edge slab on grade. If you need a crawlspace, piers or a basement, we can redraw the structural sheets.
Does it include electrical, plumbing and HVAC?
Yes. The door schedule and electrical plan and the plumbing layout are part of the 13 sheet set.
Is an A-frame harder to build than a normal cabin?
It is usually simpler. The rafters are repetitive and the roof and the side walls are the same assembly, so there is less wall framing than in a conventional cabin of the same size.
Can I build it more than once?
One purchase covers one structure. Write to us for a multi build licence if you plan to repeat it.
How do I get the files?
The download link appears on screen the moment payment clears and is emailed to you as well. It does not expire.
