Description
The 24×36 Scandinavian Lean Cabin is an 864 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom single level cabin plan with a low single slope roof, charred dark vertical cladding, a warm cedar lined soffit and a deck running the full width of the front. You get a 13 sheet print ready PDF with the fully dimensioned floor plan, all four elevations, building section, roof and foundation sheets, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, plus a material list, delivered the moment you check out.
- Two full bathrooms in 864 square feet, so two couples or a family and guests are not sharing one shower.
- The deck runs the whole width of the front, with doors from the living room and from a bedroom.
- Charred dark boards with a lit cedar soffit, the Nordic pairing that makes a small cabin look expensive.
- A low 13 ft roof line that sits quietly on a flat site and keeps the build simple.
- Full height sliding doors instead of windows, so the living space borrows the view.
- Electrical, plumbing and HVAC sheets are in the set, not sold as extras.

Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are exactly what your building department will review. What varies is the paperwork around them. Before you buy, call your department and ask four questions:
- Do you require an engineer’s stamp?
- Do you require truss or structural calculations?
- Do you require a site plan showing setbacks?
- Do you require an energy compliance form?
With two bathrooms, ask your health department about septic sizing as well if you are not on a sewer: fixture count, not floor area, is what sets the field size. Because you receive the complete PDF set, a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing the project.
What will it cost to build?
Contractor built, 864 sq ft at roughly $120 to $260 per square foot.
The second bathroom is the main reason this plan sits above a one bath cabin.
You hire out the slab, framing, roof and glazing and finish the inside yourself.
Two wet areas means more plumbing rough in before the slab pour.
Figures are planning ranges, not quotes. Costs move with your region, site access and the finishes you choose.
Who this plan is for
Short-term rental
Two bedrooms with two bathrooms lets you list it for two couples, which is the booking most small cabins have to turn down.
Shared ownership
If two families split a cabin, the second bathroom is usually the thing they wish they had paid for.
Single level living
No loft and no stairs, with the deck as the second living room in summer.
Owner-builders
A simple rectangle and a low single slope roof, with the plumbing and glazing hired out.
Need it changed?
Mirrored, widened, one bathroom swapped for a laundry, a different cladding, a crawlspace or pier foundation, or editable CAD files: tell us what you want and we will quote it, usually within one business day.
What you are buying
Your licence
One purchase lets you build this design once, on one lot. You can print the set as many times as you need for that build. You may not resell, share or redistribute the files.
Delivery
The download link appears on screen and is emailed the moment payment clears. It does not expire. Find a drawing error and we correct the sheet and resend it free.
Questions buyers ask
Does this cabin really have two bathrooms?
Yes. Both are drawn at 5 feet by 7 feet with a walk in shower, vanity and toilet, one beside each bedroom. They are on the floor plan and on the plumbing sheet.
Is there a laundry room?
Not as drawn. The space that would normally be a laundry is the second bathroom. If you would rather have one bathroom and a laundry, write to us and we will quote the change.
How big is it and how many rooms?
24 feet by 36 feet, 864 square feet on one level. Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms and an open kitchen and living area, with a deck across the full front.
Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are what the building department reviews. Some counties also want an engineer stamp, truss calculations, a site plan or an energy form. You receive the complete set, so a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing anything.
Does the plan come with a material list?
Yes. A preliminary material list is included, prepared from the same 13 sheet drawing set.
What foundation does it use?
A monolithic thickened edge slab on grade. If you need a crawlspace, piers or a basement, we can redraw the structural sheets.
Does it include electrical, plumbing and HVAC?
Yes. The electrical plan with legend and the plumbing layout are part of the 13 sheet set, and the two bathrooms are plumbed on them.
What is charred timber cladding?
Timber whose surface has been burned and brushed, a traditional Japanese treatment now common on Nordic cabins. It weathers slowly and needs no repainting. A dark stain gives a similar look for less.
Can I build it more than once?
One purchase covers one structure. Write to us for a multi build licence if you plan to repeat it.
How do I get the files?
The download link appears on screen the moment payment clears and is emailed to you as well. It does not expire.
