Description
The 24×36 Wraparound Deck Lean Cabin is an 864 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom single level cabin plan with a low single slope roof, dark vertical cladding, a cedar lined soffit and a deck that runs around all four sides. You get a 15 sheet print ready PDF with the fully dimensioned floor plan, all four elevations, a building section, roof plan and roof framing, foundation, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, plus a preliminary material list, delivered the moment you check out.
- About 312 sq ft of deck wraps the cabin, so the shady side is always somewhere to sit.
- Two bathrooms and a separate laundry room, which is rare at 864 square feet.
- An open kitchen and living space 26 ft 8 in long, with a high bar instead of a dining room.
- The ceiling climbs from 9 ft at the back to 12 ft at the glass, with no loft and no stairs.
- A store room beside the hall, so bikes and skis are not living in a bedroom.
- Electrical, plumbing and HVAC sheets are in the set, not sold as extras.

Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are exactly what your building department will review. What changes from county to county is the paperwork around them. Before you buy, call your department and ask four questions:
- Do you require an engineer’s stamp?
- Do you require truss or structural calculations?
- Do you require a site plan showing setbacks?
- Do you require an energy compliance form?
Two bathrooms and a laundry mean a higher fixture count, so if you are not on a sewer, ask the health department how that affects septic sizing before you price the site work. Because you receive the complete PDF set, a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing the project. The general notes sheet is written to the 2021 International Building Code.
What will it cost to build?
Contractor built, 864 sq ft at roughly $120 to $260 per square foot.
The second bathroom and the laundry are the two items that push this above a one bath cabin.
You hire out the slab, framing, roof and glazing and finish the inside yourself.
Budget separately for the deck framing, since it carries around all four sides.
Figures are planning ranges, not quotes. Costs move with your region, site access and the finishes you choose.
Who this plan is for
Short-term rental
Two bedrooms and two bathrooms lets you take the two couple booking, and the wraparound deck is the photo that sells the listing.
Full time small living
A laundry room and a store room are the two things people miss first when they move into a cabin full time.
Single level living
No loft and no stairs, with a ceiling that still opens up to 12 ft over the living space.
Owner-builders
A plain rectangle, a slab on grade and one roof slope, with the plumbing and glazing hired out.
Need it changed?
Mirrored, widened, the store turned into a third bedroom, a different cladding, a crawlspace or pier foundation, or editable CAD files: tell us what you want and we will quote it, usually within one business day.
What you are buying
Your licence
One purchase lets you build this design once, on one lot. You can print the set as many times as you need for that build. You may not resell, share or redistribute the files.
Delivery
The download link appears on screen and is emailed the moment payment clears. It does not expire. Find a drawing error and we correct the sheet and resend it free.
Questions buyers ask
How big is the deck?
The deck is 4 ft wide across the 36 ft front and 2 ft wide around the back and both sides, which works out at roughly 312 square feet in total. It is drawn on the floor plan and on the foundation sheet.
Does this cabin have a laundry room?
Yes. There is a laundry and wash area of 8 ft 4 in by 5 ft 1 in off the living space, drawn with a washer box on the plumbing sheet. It is separate from both bathrooms.
How big is it and how many rooms?
24 feet by 36 feet, 864 square feet on one level. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry, a store room, a foyer and an open kitchen and living area.
Is there a loft?
No. This is a single level plan with no loft and no stairs. The ceiling still rises from 9 ft at the back wall to 12 ft at the front glass, so the living space does not feel low.
Can I get a building permit with these plans?
In most US jurisdictions these drawings are what the building department reviews. Some counties also want an engineer stamp, structural calculations, a site plan or an energy form. You receive the complete 15 sheet set, so a local engineer can review and stamp it without redrawing anything.
Does the plan come with a material list?
Yes. A preliminary material list is included, prepared from the same drawing set, with approximate quantities for budgeting.
What foundation does it use?
A 5 inch reinforced slab on grade over 4 inches of compacted gravel, with a 12 inch by 30 inch thickened edge footing under the exterior walls. If you need a crawlspace or piers, we can redraw the structural sheets.
Does it include electrical, plumbing and HVAC?
Yes. The electrical plan with legend, the plumbing plan and riser notes, and a separate HVAC plan are all part of the 15 sheet set.
What is the roof slope?
A single slope lean roof falling 1/4 inch per foot from the high front wall to the low back wall. The roof plan and the roof framing plan are both in the set.
Can I build it more than once?
One purchase covers one structure. Write to us for a multi build licence if you plan to repeat it.
